Victorian Loft

This 1890 Duplex, upper unit had been a rental for decades. As Cucina grew over the years we needed more space to showcase our wares and talents. This kitchen features traditional inset cabinets with a custom finish, a mix of vintage and modern appliances and spectacular vintage lighting. Removing walls opened the space to make is friendly and cozy. Keeping the brick chimney was necessary as the unit below has a vintage gas insert, yet it adds so much charm and architectural interest. The framing around the fireplace is the original fir 2×4’s sanded and finished to highlight their age.

The bathroom highlights a state of the art Jason MICROSILK tub that perspective clients come to experience the benefits.

Beware of how much you think you can handle! Trying to guide your own project sounds romantic and thrifty but many challenges lay ahead .  Perspective with a professional vantage point are key to having what you want at the very end.  Costs can run out of control, long view decisions can be made too late, and choosing the least expensive contractor will cause you heart ache or cost you more in long run, if not both.  Unless you plan to stay at home full time to run your project, don’t make the mistake.  Remodeling is incredibly expensive so part of your SMART INVESTMENT is to choose a designer who understands and respects your budget, your aesthetic, and how the “new” fits the home you live in.
