This 1890 Victorian had been used for several decades as a rental property and had fallen into severe disrepair.
The goal was to restore the original architectural beauty and to do so the walls had to be taken down to the studs. Being an older structure, it was not originally built with insulation and now was the time to make that change.
In addition, all the electrical and plumbing was brought up to code so high efficiency recessed led lights could be use with maximum performance and the water lines flowed with clean, unrestricted water.
All the original trim in the kitchen was gone, so we matched the trim in the rest of the house by using a custom mill. This architectural detail brought back the life to the kitchen.
As is typical in Victorians the kitchen was small and was separated from the dining room, so in order to make the room comfortable for today’s lifestyle a structural header and foundation were required to open the rooms to one another.
The finished product is stunning.
